Notes from Algonquin

Here are some highlights from Algonquin Principal Ned Gallagher’s December Principal’s Report:

  • Freshman social studies classes held a mock town meeting as part of a unit on local and state government. They debated whether the town of Northborough should build a wind turbine at Algonquin. Read an account of the event in the Metrowest Daily News here. (Back in the real world, Northborough is actually researching wind turbines as alternate energy sources for the town. Find more details here.)
  • As part of a creative writing project, Southborough senior Alexa DePietri had a letter to the editor published in the Boston Globe. You can read Alexa’s letter here.
  • Students and faculty donated $3,000 in Stop & Shop gift cards along with other gifts to Northborough families in need.
  • A number of students were selected for the Central District Honors Concert band, chorus, orchestra, and jazz ensembles. See the full list here.
