High-speed chase ends in crash on Route 9

It was a wild – and dangerous – night on Route 9. According to the Metrowest Daily News, a man stole a car in Framingham after beating up the woman who owned it. That led to a high-speed chase along a very crowded Route 9 westbound from Framingham into Southborough.

Details are sketchy, but apparently the driver hit an SUV at White Bagley Road and then somehow ended up in the Sudbury Reservoir. As police struggled with the man and attempted to pull him from the reservoir, he bit off the fingertip of a Framingham police officer.

I happened to pass the scene going eastbound on Route 9 at around 7:45 pm tonight. There was a significant police presence between Route 85 and White Bagley. From the sheer number of blue flashing lights, you knew it wasn’t your everyday Route 9 fender bender. Clearly.

Three people were injured, including the police officer who lost his fingertip. No word on their condition.
