The Northboro-Southborough Music Association passed along this update about the open mike event held last week to raise money for the Dennis Wrenn scholarship fund:

On Tuesday May 4, the Tri-M Music Honor Society raised over $1,000 for the Dennis Wrenn Scholarship Fund.  Mr. Wrenn was the beloved music director at the school who passed away last year during a trip to Greece with the Jazz Band.  The evening was a steady stream of outstanding student musical performances ranging from Mozart to Lady Gaga.  Coffee provided by Armeno Coffee Roasters and home-made desserts by the Tri-M students added to the coffeehouse experience.

“The kids really did a great job pulling this event together to honor Dennis,” said Amy Collins, the new director of the Fine and Performance Arts department at Algonquin and Tri-M Chapter Advisor.  “We are already excited to build on the success for next year.”  Tri-M would like to thank Armeno Coffee Roasters, Stop & Shop and Hannaford for their generous donations.

The Dennis Wrenn Scholarship provides funds to graduating seniors who will continue their education in music or who have shown great leadership, growth and commitment to the Fine and Performing Arts Department.  If you would like to make a donation, please visit the Northboro Southboro Music Association website at www.nsma.info for more information.
