Things to think about as you’re cleaning up after Irene

Town Administrator Jean Kitchen passed along these resources for those of you cleaning up your homes and yards after Irene:

As many residents and businesses begin clean up we want to remind them of the importance to fully document any damage and loss with photos related to the storm to insure full personal insurance or federal reimbursement.

In addition there are links provided below that provide instructions for cleaning up after flooding, power outage, and storm damage. These documents describe activities and precautions to consider for cleaning up, determining food safety, and protection from mold.

A number of residents are still without power in Southborough. Kitchen said town officials have been in daily contact with National Grid.

“It is our understanding that area outages (from 10-250 customers in an area) should be restored by this Friday evening. Individual customers may unfortunately be waiting throughout the weekend,” she said. “Residents should continue to call National Grid with their outages at 1-800 322-3223, as well as let the Police dispatch know (508-485-2121).”
