Volunteers needed to help complete South Union Playground on Sunday

Southborough’s newest playground is almost ready, and the Recreation Department is asking for your help to bring the project to completion.

Voters at Town Meeting last April approved $96K in Community Preservation Act money to build a new playground at the South Union School (Arts Center) on Highland Street on what was an overgrown and unused parcel of land. Local businesses donated their time and equipment to help clear and prepare the site. Southborough DPW took care of the more technical parts of the playground installation, and volunteers are needed this weekend to finish off the rest of the to-do list.

Want to help? Here are the details from the Recreation Department.

The South Union Playground has been installed and we are now moving into the next phase of clearing small stones and spreading the mulch. Any help is welcome even if it’s only an hour. This will count for Community Service.

Location: South Unions (Arts Center), 21 Highland Street
Day: Sunday, September 18, 2011
Time: 2:00 pm

What to bring/needed: Shovel, wheelbarrow, gloves, water, hat (if anyone has a bobcat that would be great, too)

Volunteers are asked to sign up in advance by contacting Recreation Director Doreen Ferguson at  508-229-4452 or dferguson@southboroughma.com.
