The Southborough Open Land Foundation invites residents to an open house and work day at the Beals Preserve on Saturday. Here are more details:

The Trustees will be clearing brush and removing invasive species along the stone walls and field edges, plus other clean-up activities. We welcome your help.

Last week Eastern Mountain Sports employees were at Beals Preserve as part of their Service Day and helped with the clean up and removal of invasive species. We thank them for their efforts, but there is still a lot to do. We do want to make you aware of the EMS Club Days at the Marlborough Store on Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1. If you show your SOLF membership card you will receive 20% off purchases. SOLF will have a display at the store.

If you are joining us in the field, proper dress is required. We may encounter poison ivy and insects. Consider using insect repellant. Check for ticks when you get home. Bring gloves, handsaws, rakes, and loppers.

Parking is at the intersection of Northboro Road and Main Street. Walk to the main entrance at the bridge over the Wachusett Aqueduct and on the Reservoir Trail. Meet at the Beals Preserve Kiosk.

Come join us on Saturday, September 24 to help clean-up this wonderful property while also renewing old acquaintances and making new friends.

The open house runs from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
