Reminder: Southborough Summer Nights coming up next week

Above: I love Summer Nights, and not just for the fried dough

Tomorrow may be the first day of fall, but Southborough still has some summer left to celebrate. The annual Southborough Summer Nights extravaganza, which usually happens in August, will this year take place on Friday, September 30.

The event was originally scheduled for August 28, but had to be postponed due to Tropical Storm Irene.

You may have to wear a sweater to Summer Nights this year, but expect (almost) all the same fun as usual. There will be games, music, food, family fun, and of course – fireworks. The dunk tank and bubble romp have been scrapped due to cooler temperatures.

Volunteers are still needed to help out with the event. Adults can sign up for 30-minute shifts to man activities like the moonwalk, slide, and obstacle course. High school students or older are needed to sell raffle tickets and middle school students and older to hand out brochures. Kids can use this time to put towards volunteer hours. The fun starts at 5:00 pm at Neary School (parking information here). Fireworks are expected to start around 8:00 pm. Admission is free.
