Postseason update: Algonquin volleyball ousted; field hockey, boys soccer play tonight

The season has come to an end for the Algonquin girls volleyball team. They lost to Lincoln-Sudbury in the Central/West Division 1 semifinals yesterday by a score of 3-0.

“I think we played really strong,” Algonquin coach Janice Henningson told the Metrowest Daily News. “(Lincoln-Sudbury has) a lot of weapons and they hit the ball really hard at us.” Algonquin finishes the season with a 16-7 record.

Yesterday’s rain postponed games for the remaining two Algonquin teams still in the playoffs, but the action is back on today. The second-seed field hockey team will face top-ranked Wachusett in the Central Division 1 finals starting at 1:00 pm at Foley Stadium in Worcester. Later in the afternoon, the second-seed boys soccer team will take on third-seed Worcester South in the semifinals. The game starts at 4:00 pm at the Morgan Bowl in Hudson.
