Police chase down two suspects after break-in at Eaton Apothecary

A foot pursuit and K-9 search last night led to the arrest of two men charged with breaking into Eaton Apothecary in the Town Center Plaza.

In a press release, Southborough Police say they had beefed up patrols of the Town Center Plaza after a break-in at Eaton in November, and last night while patrolling the area they got lucky and interrupted two men breaking into the store at around 10:15 pm.

Both men fled the scene. Officers pursued on foot and were able to apprehend one of the suspects, a 41-year-old Lynn resident, not far from the scene. A State Police K-9 unit and officers from the Ashland Police Department were called in, and they were able to track down the second suspect, a 43-year-old also from Lynn.

Area residents say it was a dramatic scene. One neighbor said a suspect fled through their garden and into the woods behind their house.

“It was very exciting and frightening at the same time,” the neighbor said. “After all, this is Southborough.”

Both men were charged with a number of crimes including breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony. They were held without bail, and are expected to appear in Westborough District Court.

Nice work, SPD! I don’t certainly don’t want Mr. Rogers as my neighbor…

Indeed, excellent work by our police force, and extra congratulations for all involved for keeping them held without bail. While I do firmly believe in “innocent until proven guilty,” I also believe in protecting the rest of the innocent – and it’s hard to say you’re “innocent” when you’re caught you in the act.

Being a “scanner buff”, I was at home listening to the SPD. A huge congrats to Sgt. James Deluca who was able to direct incoming units while pursuing the bad guys on foot! Kudos to the rest for putting a stop to this caper.
