Obituary: Arthur A. Rosen, 76

CHARLOTTE, NC – Arthur A. Rosen, of 3200 Shillington Place, formerly of David Drive in Olean, NY, passed away Thursday June 14, 2012 following a short illness.

Mr. Rosen was born on Sept. 2, 1935, in Olean and was a son of the late David and Rae Reich Rose. On April 14, 1979, he married his loving wife of 33 years, Virginia Frank, who survives. Mr. Rosen attended Olean public schools and graduated from Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. He attended Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Rosen was the owner of McKean Machinery Sales in Olean. He and his wife Virginia moved to Charlotte, NC, in 2005. Mr. Rosen was the owner of Carolina Used Machinery Sales. Mr. Rosen was a former member of the B’Nai Israel Congregation, Bartlett County Club and the Hinsdale School Board. He was very involved with Machinery Dealers National Association, where he served in various leadership positions, including a tenure as President from 1984 to 1986. As a result of his dedication and outstanding service, Mr. Rosen was the recipient of the Randolph K. Vinson Award in 1988. Mr. Rosen was an avid bridge player and an active member of the Charlotte Bridge Association as well as the American Contract Bridge League.

Mr. Rosen is survived by three daughters, Amy (Curt) Feldman of Southboro, MA, Rene (Adam) Zipper of Westin, FL and Patricia (Brian) Rosen Felix of Denver, NC; three grandchildren, Jamie Feldman, Matthew Feldman and Jacob Zipper; a brother, Frederick (Maria) Rosen of London, England; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State Street, Olean on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at which time Funeral Services will be held. Rabbi Alex Lazereth Klein will officiate. Burial will be in the B’Nai Israel Cemetery, Olean, New York. There will be a Memorial Service in the McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
