Obituary: Peter L. Sora, 96, WWII army veteran

Peter L. Sora, 96, of Southborough, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, after a period of declining health.

He was the devoted husband of Norma (Merrills) Sora who passed away last August.

Mr. Sora attended the Westborough school system and was a WWII army veteran. For many years he worked for Perini Corp of Framingham as a driver and was a member of Teamster, local 170. Peter was an avid sports fan and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 894 of Framingham. He was also a former member of St. Matthew Church of Southborough, where he was an altar boy and an usher.

He is survived by his children, Carol Cook and her husband Donald of Mendon; Peter Sora and his wife Gail of Londonderry, NH; Rosemary McGowan and her husband Leo of Milford; Brian Sora and his wife Ellen of Sutton; 8 grandchildren, Steven and Timothy Cook; Carlo Macchi and Melissa Kapatoes; Kelly Viera and Patrick McGowan; Rachel Nieminen and Brian Sora; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his grandson, LCPL Peter “PJ” Sora, Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 31, from 4:00 to 7:00 at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Southborough. A Funeral mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 , at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, Highland St., Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
