Obituary: Charles Philip Aldrich, 70, Algonquin grad, Deerfoot Farms employee

Charles Philip Aldrich, 70, of Bedford and formerly of Southborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013, after a period of declining health.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late David W. and Evelyn ‘Betsy’ (Hall) Aldrich. Charlie grew up in Northborough and Southborough where he was a member of the cub scouts and boy scouts. He played little league and proudly bought his first car at the age of 17. He was a 1961 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough and served honorably in the Air Force for 4 years.

Charlie worked at the former Deerfoot Farms, as well as summer jobs on the Cape.

His love of history was apparent in his spot-on memory of facts and events. Charlie had a gift for remembering names, things about you and always was thoughtful of others. His sense of humor was infectious and he would warm your heart. Charlie will be missed as he was a loving son and brother and was loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his siblings, Richard Aldrich of Chesterfield, NH; Betsy Demers of Keene, NH; Barbara Clews of Troy, NH; 16 nieces and nephews, and by his other family, Unit 78C at the VA Hospital in Bedford.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 6, from 5 to 7 PM at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral home service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 7. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request you volunteer at a VA hospital and help a veteran. To leave word of condolence to the family, please visit Morrisfuneralparlor.com
