Northborough/Southborough Relay for Life starts today at Algonquin

Betty Minnucci and Bea Ginga at the 2009 Relay for Life. They’ll be walking again this year.

The track at Algonquin will be crowded tonight, but not with the usual set of high school sprinters, shot-putters, and high jumpers. Instead, the track will be taken over by cancer survivors, cancer patients, friends, family, and supporters.

From Friday afternoon into the wee hours of Saturday morning, Algonquin will play host to the Northborough-Southborough Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The opening ceremony starts at 6:00 pm. At last check, 29 teams and about 100 walkers have signed up and together they have raised more than $21K in the fight against cancer.

New participants and survivors are welcome to register at the event. If you can’t participate, but you’d like to donate, you can do so online.
