Events this week (11/25/13 – 12/1/13): Thanksgiving in Southborough

Most activities happening around town this week revolve around the upcoming holiday.

Tuesday, November 26, 2013:

  • AVRT’s Pre-Thanksgiving Bake Sale (9:00 am – 1:00 pm, or when the goodies run out) @ Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, 215 Fitchburg Street, Marlborough: The Culinary Arts program is whipping up bread, rolls, muffins, pastries, cakes, pies, cookies and other sweet delights. The sale will be in their Epicurean Room restaurant (drive around to the back of the school to enter).
  • Southborough’s Thanksgiving service (7:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Church, 27 Main Street: The United Parishes of Southborough’s annual ecuminical service to celebrate Thanksgiving. Refreshments will be served after the service. A donation of canned beef stew for the food pantry would be appreciated.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013:

  • Southborough Public Schools early dismissal for Thanksgiving break: Students will have a LONG weekend for Thanksgiving. Monday is a Professional Day for the schools. Students won’t return to class until Tuesday, December 3rd.

Thanksgiving – Thursday, November 28, 2013:

  • Gobble Wobble (8:30 – 10:00 am) @ Trottier Middle School: 7th annual fundraiser for Friends of Southborough Recreation. Register in advance online or starting at 7:00 am on day of. Choose from the 5K run or 2 mile family walk. There is also a free fun run for kids. Babysitting is available but should be reserved in advance by calling 508-229-4452.
  • ARHS’ Thanksgiving Day football (10:15 am) @ Algonquin Regional High School: The Tomahawks face off with local rivals Westborough High for the annual Turkey Day game. (You can also use this as an excuse to check out the ARHS cheerleaders. The squad made it to to the state championship competition this year.)

Saturday, November 30 2013:

  • Small Business Saturday: Use the blog’s 4th Annual Shop Local Guide to support business owners in town. Find what you need for your holiday needs – entertaining, decorating, gift giving and more. All businesses are either located in town or owned by Southborough residents.
  •  Algonquin Athletic Hall of Fame (1:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School cafeteria: 8th bi-annual ceremony to induct new members. The ceremony honors ARHS’ former athletes and coaches. Tickets for the event (must be purchased in advance) are $15.00 and are available through the athletic department.
