MWDN: Accused abuser held on $500,000 bail

According to The Metrowest Daily news, a town resident accused of child rape was ordered held on $500,000 bail yesterday.

Robert Cerqua is charged with crimes against a girl under the age of 16 over the course of 7 years. His relationship was characterized as being a person of trust to the victim, who’s identity is protected.

According to the prosecuter, Cerqua admitted in an email “I did horrific things. It’s inexcusable, and I’m not even human.”

News on the story broke after Cerqua’s arrest in Albany on February 11. Police allege that he fled town after learning he was being investigated.

In the event that Cerqua posts bail, he will be required to wear a GPS tracking monitor and stay away from the girl and her high school.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for March 24th.
