Several Algonquin varsity teams are still vying for state championships. Only two teams have competed since my last post. But many other bracket details were still TBA at that time and some schedules have changed – so here’s an update.
Boys Volleyball earned a bye in their first rounds but got knocked out in the Quarter Finals. The top seed team was outscored 3-1 by the only team to beat them this season, Framingham.
All other ARHS varsity teams are still in the running (excepting Girls Rugby who already earned their state title.)
ARHS Lacrosse third seed teams will both play on their home turf when they face 6th seed rivals today’s Quarter Finals.
The Boys trounced 14th seed South Hadley 9-5 on Tuesday. Today, Tantasqua will try taking them on. The Girls’ match got pushed back from yesterday. This week, Agawam won the right to challenge them.
In Girls Softball, fifth seed Tantasqua beat out Hudson to play at Algonquin this afternoon.
Tennis brackets have been posted. Girls will have the home court advantage in their First Round this afternoon. The 7th seed team will play 10th seed South High at 3:00 pm.
The fourth seed Boys earned a bye on their first round. They’ll hold court against 12th seed St. John’s tomorrow in the Quarter Finals.
Saturday, Boys and Girls Outdoor Track will compete in their state tournaments. At last weekend’s divisionals the teams were ranked 4th in for women and 18th for men.
