The Town tweeted news about an opening in the Department of Public Works. The DPW is looking for a Staff Engineer:
The Town of Southborough is accepting applications for a full-time Staff Engineer. The employee works under the general guidance of the Superintendent of Public Works. Familiarity with Public Works engineering, maintenance and construction is desired as is experience in the technical principals of Civil Engineering as they relate to municipal government operations. Competency and experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD desired. Additional preferred skills include: working knowledge of construction methods and engineering, municipal laws, storm-water management, surveying and septic/soil review.
Position performs field and administrative work. Staff Engineer organizes information from past projects and developments, provides technical review of DPW components of development plans, assistance with bid creation, contractor coordination and quantity verification. Position also assists DPW crews with projects and performs construction inspections and site visits with various other Town Departments.
Strong interpersonal, written, communications skills and experience with MS Office.
Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, minimum of 3-5 years experience in civil engineering, public works construction and design, or an equivalent combination. Must have a valid driver’s license.
