The brackets have been posted for fall sports and its a good season for Algonquin.

Boys Soccer kicks off the tourneys with their first round home game at 7:00 pm tonight. The eight seed team will hope to best lower seed Fitchburg. They’ll be fighting for the right to face top seed Tantasqua at Friday’s quarter finals. The odds appear to be in their favor. The T-Hawks suffered only two losses this season, both away games, versus Fitchburg’s six.

Next up is 4th seed Volleyball on Thursday night at 6:00 pm on their home court. The team will be favored when they host 13th seed Burncoat for their first round.

Field Hockey earned a BYE on their first round. The 5th seed team will head to Marlborough to face their 4th seed team on Friday at 2:30 pm. The winner will move on to Monday night’s semi-finals at Lunenburg.

Top seed Girls Soccer also bypasses their first round. With the strongest record in the division by far (17-1-0) they have a strong shot at making it to states this year. They’ll host their quarter finals at 7:00 pm on Saturday, opponent TBA.

As I posted on Monday, Cross Country teams host Westborough for a post regional tournament meet today at 4:00 pm. And Football (not in the tournaments) heads to Shephard Hill this Friday night (7:00 pm) for their last away game. (Their final two games will be played on home turf, November 13th and Thanksgiving Day.)
