Post-season sports: Boys Tennis to Semis; Girls Tennis, Lacrosse, and Volleyball out

Above: ARHS Tennis retweeted a “Boys Tennis Hype” video to get the players pumped for their postseason. It seems to be working. (original post by @bijoy_shah)

What started out as a strong post-season showing for the T-Hawks is now dwindling. Three teams fell out of their tourneys. But two are still in the the running for championships. (You can cheer them on this afternoon.)

Plus some athletes seem to be headed to a New England Championship this weekend.

On Friday, Boys Tennis triumphed against lower seed Wachusett team in Quarter Finals at Algonquin. The T-Hawks return to their home court this afternoon at 3:00 pm for the Semi Finals. The second seed team will look to beat out 6th seed Shrewsbury. If they win, they head to St. John’s this Wednesday to take on either top-seed Westborough or underdog Marlborough.

As I posted last week, Baseball is also playing at Algonquin today.  The second seed T-Hawks will play 7th seed Wachusett team in the Quarter Finals at 4:00 pm.

On Saturday, Boys and Girls Outdoor Track teams competed at the State Championships. The Boys showed in the top quarter, coming in 18 out of 78 teams. The Girls ranked 33 out of 86. Senior Caroline Leonard stood out in the Javelin throw again, coming in 2nd. The New England Championships are scheduled for this Saturday. Presumably at least some members of the team will be in the competition. That takes place at Willow Brook Park in New Britain, CT.

Not every team fared as well on Friday.

Girls Tennis was shutout by top seed Nashoba 5-0 in their Quarter Finals. Boys Volleyball was shutout by upper seed Framingham 3-0 in the Semi Finals. And Boys Lacrosse was bested by St John’s 12-4 in their Quarter Finals.
