Events this week: Fay Classroom Visit Day, “Beautiful Boy” Book Group, Storytimes, Yoga, and NECC 5K

Above: This year, NECC won’t gather a crowd of participants to walk/run. But supporters are still encouraged to virtually/remotely participate in the 5K fundraiser.

Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week.

Tuesday, May 5, 2020

  • Library’s Virtual Story Time (10:00 am): Children’s Librarian “Miss Kim” will hold a story time on Facebook live, which will also be viewable after. (Note: you don’t have to have a Facebook account to watch the Library’s videos.)

  • Fay School Virtual Classroom Visit Day (10:00 – 11:30 am): Join Fay School for a Virtual Classroom Visit Day! You’ll meet our Head of School and division heads, hear perspectives from students and parents, and participate in our new, immersive, 360-degree virtual tour. For more information, click here.
  • Yoga at Home (5:15 – 6:15 pm): Southborough Recreation is offering the free virtual classes open to all levels of experience and ability, includes breath work, posture sequences to build strength and cultivate balance and concentration. Class ends with guided relaxation. Led by Malu Doherty and Mary Starr Green, who are both seasoned instructors and faculty assistants for health, movement and creativity programs at Kripalu.   • Community Storytime by Kindergroup (11:00 am): Southborough’s Mike Bartolini (a Residential Home Builder) will read a book to young children over zoom The reading is part of a series sponsored by Southborough Kindergroup, through its Facebook Group. For details, see dedicated post.

  • NECC Virtual 5K (8:00 am – 2:00 pm): The NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism will be held as a virtual event this year. Register, fundraise and join the hundreds of participants for a day of social media camaraderie, competition and fun. All money raised from this event goes to the Annual Fund, which allows us to improve the quality of life for all our students with autism. With your help, we can continue to promote independence for all our students, share our expertise with the greater autism community, and train more teachers.
