Taking center stage – summer theater productions in the area

Every summer, I share options for attending community theater in the area. Options are limited this summer,* but they do exist.

In Framingham, A Common Thread Theater Company, is getting ready to perform Still Life for Iris, a family friendly adventure fantasy drama.

The play was purportedly the first one written for young audiences to have won a he Kennedy Center’s prestigious “Fund for New American Plays” Award. Entertainment Inc describes:

Still Life with Iris posterA fantastical adventure set in the magical land of Nocturno, where all the things one sees by day are made at night while the rest of the world sleeps and all the residents wear coats made of memories. When the coat of a young girl named Iris is taken from her she must use her only clue, a single coat button to help her on her quest to regain her memory, her family, and her home. Iris’s heart warming and exciting crusade recovers more than just her past.

Players will take the stage at Dennison Memorial Hall at Boston Church of Christ on Concord Street in Framingham. There will be six performances from August 6 – 15, (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm).  You can buy tickets for $15 each here.
