Save the Dates for Christmas/Holiday fun in 2021 (Updated-Again)

December is almost here. That means the biggest weekend for holiday celebrations is less than two weeks away.

This year, most of Southborough’s annual holiday traditions are back. So, I’m putting together a big list of Save-the-Dates. These are just events related to the holidays (including holiday shopping). 

December 2021 

Wooden Reindeer at Chestnut Hill FarmReindeer Quest (Daily in December, Sunrise to Sunset) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Free self-guided program. Grab your snow boots and get the family outside to discover our elusive herd of wooden reindeer found throughout the farm trails! See how many you can find and leave a bell around each one’s neck.  Girl Scout Sing-alongGirl Scout Holiday Sing-along (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Community House Lawn: Event for all families in Southborough with Girl Scouts Kick off your holiday season with an old-fashioned holiday sing-along with some modern touches. Participants are encouraged to bring a gift donation for Just Because. For details, see dedicated post.

Saturday, December 4, 2021 

Kids-Shop-Flyer-2021Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St Anne’s Church Parish Hall, 20 Boston Road: An annual Southborough tradition. Boy Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping for family members without parents’ prying eyes. While waiting, adults can enjoy a bake sale and coffee. Christmas BazaarChristmas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main Street: Admission is free. Featuring the White Elephant, jewelry, toy, and craft sales, a silent auction, kids games and activities, basket raffle, bake sale, the annual Bargain Box bag sale, and a Kids’ Activity Area. From 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, the Café will sell lunch. For details, see dedicated post.

Holiday MarketHoliday Market (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Knights of Columbus Hall, 1 Main Street: Admission is free. Four local artisans will be selling pottery, natural soap, jewelry, and custom wooden gifts at this pop up event. For details, see dedicated post.

Library Tree Decorating Party Drop-in Holiday Tree Ornaments (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Instead of a party this year, the Library will be offering drop-in hours over several days for kids to come in and make ornaments to bring home, give as gifts or hang on the library holiday tree. (No refreshments.)

Santa DaySanta Day (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s field and Community House: See Santa arrive in his helicopter and land on St. Mark’s Field. Then join him and Southborough Kindergroup at the Community House. Enjoy ornament making, refreshments, caroler and character visits and more before kids share their wishes with Santa while posing for a picture. For details, see dedicated post.

There’s usually some dancing and skits, plus a special visitor. $12 Adult $10 Senior/Children.

CHF Christmas Tree lightingHoliday Tree Lighting (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Chestnut Hill Farm celebrates the season with its free annual tree lighting. Enjoy live music, check out the Solstice StoryWalk, wish our beloved goats and sheep a happy holidays, make a craft, nosh on delicious food, and sip on hot cider or hot chocolate. Art and Gift SaleArt and Gift Sale (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ 49 Lynbrook Road (L’Abri Fellowship) and 10 Chestnut Hill Road (The Stable): Local artisans and craftspeople will be selling holiday gifts. This event is free and open to the public. Fine art, photography, prints, chocolate, jewelry, herbal care, ceramics, clothing, vanilla, decorations, books, and more. For details, see dedicated post.

NACC logoNACC’s Holly Jolly Holidays (3:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School Auditorium: The Northborough Area ​Community Chorus (including Southborough members) will perform its annual Christmas Holiday Show. Tickets from any Chorus Member or at the door $5.

Pilgrim ChurchTree lighting & Caroling (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St: The community is invited to Pilgrim’s Christmas tree decorating and lighting event as well as carol sing. Festivities will be in the parking lot next to the church. (In case of inclement weather, it will take place in the the hall. If indoors, masks will be required.) For details, see dedicated post.

AVM Messiah Sing (3:30 pm) @ First Church, Marlborough: Assabet Valley Mastersingers regional chorus (including Southborough members) will perform the Christmas portion of Handel’s oratorio and the “Hallelujah Chorus” with audience participation and organ accompaniment. Masks are required with social distancing by attendee unit. Holiday break – December 23, 2021 – January 2, 2022

Public Schools of Southborough and Northborough start the winter break with an early dismissal on Wednesday, December 22nd. School resumes on January 3rd.
