Meals seek wheels: Volunteer drivers needed (regular commitment or as a backup)

Southborough’s Elderly Nutrition Program is looking for volunteer drivers to help out

Southborough’s Meals on Wheels program is again seeking volunteers to make deliveries. With gas prices so high, it’s worth noting that the program does reimburse volunteers for mileage.

Meals on Wheels is part of the Senior Center’s Elderly Nutrition Program. It’s run by BayPath Elder Services. The program delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors. The goal is to help “elders maintain independence so they can continue to live in their desired setting.”

Meals are picked up at the Westboro Senior Center and delivered to Southborough seniors.

Baypath is seeking people to help out a few hours per week, or on alternate weeks. (Their current big need is for  Wednesdays from 11:00 am – noon.)

They could also use backup volunteers to fill in gaps, especially over the summer.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old (and submit to a CORI check). For more information on volunteering, or to sign up, please call Denise Menzdorf of Baypath Elder Services at 508-573-7210.
