Northboro Rd reconstruction begins next week

Major rehab work on the southeast section of the road (Main St to Johnson Rd)

The Dept of Public Works announced contractors plan to tee off the reconstruction of Northboro Road this Monday (weather permitting)

The work shouldn’t have much impact on commuters. It will only impact the section in dire need of repairs that runs from Main Street to the intersection with Johnson Road (at the stop sign where the road turns right to continue towards Northborough.) That means Johnson Road serves as an obvious detour route.

The road project was one of the major road projects DPW planned to tackle in 2026 as part of the big 5-yr funding Article that voters approved. You can read more about the status of other projects in my recent update here.

For Northboro Rd, the DPW posted to Facebook this week:

NORTHBORO ROAD PAVING – UPDATE #1
J.H. Lynch & Sons will begin roadway improvement activities on Northboro Road between Main Street and Johnson Road the week of July 6, weather permitting. Erosion and sediment control measures have been installed in advance of construction.

Temporary road closures may be necessary during certain phases of construction. Residents will be notified in advance if temporary road closures are scheduled.
The anticipated work schedule is summarized below (weather permitting):
Week of 7/6: Pulverize the existing roadway and perform grading operations (approximately three days).

Week of 7/13: Install the asphalt binder and top courses.

Construction activities will generally occur between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

We thank residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during construction. If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the Department of Public Works at 508-485-1210.
