Over the weekend, the community was saddened to learn about the death of a 22 year old Southborough native. Timothy Howard grew up in Southborough and was a member of Algonquin’s Class of 2021.

Howard’s sudden death on Saturday was attributed to an to “a severe anaphylactic reaction to peanuts”. Friends quickly launched a public fundraiser for FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) in his memory.

On the fundraising site Give a Hand, the organizer posted:

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Timmy Howard, a bright and compassionate recent URI graduate and Phi Kappa Psi brother, who tragically lost his life due to a severe anaphylactic reaction.

Timmy was just beginning what promised to be a remarkable journey in life. He was driven, kind, and deeply loved by family, friends, and everyone who had the joy of knowing him. He had so much ahead of him, and he approached life with a rare kind of kindness and light. He was the person you could always count on to listen—really listen. He never judged, never interrupted, and always made you feel like what you had to say mattered. Timmy had a way of making everyone around him feel safe and seen. He had a warm, calm presence that made people feel better just by being near him. He didn’t complain, even when things were hard. He always looked for the good in people and held on to hope when others couldn’t. His positivity was quiet but powerful, and his heart was as genuine as they come. He truly was one of the good ones—gentle, thoughtful, and full of love for others. His unexpected passing has left a profound void, but we are committed to honoring his memory in a way that brings purpose and change.

We are raising funds in Timmy’s name to support FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) – the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to food allergy awareness, advocacy, research, and education. FARE’s mission aligns perfectly with what we believe Timmy would have wanted: to help prevent other families from facing similar tragedies, and to make the world safer for those living with life-threatening allergies.

Your donation will go directly toward:

  • Advancing anaphylaxis research and treatment options
  • Supporting education programs in schools and communities
  • Promoting life-saving awareness and emergency preparedness
  • Advocating for stronger food allergy policies and labeling laws

No contribution is too small. Whether you donate, share this page, or simply take a moment to learn more about anaphylaxis, you are helping to carry forward Timmy’s spirit and make a real difference in the lives of others.

Let’s come together in remembrance of Timmy and help build a safer future for all.

You can find the fundraising page and make a donation here. You can read Howard’s obituary here.

(The obituary requests donations to FARE or to become a foster family for a dog in need through Sandy Paws.)
