Starting this Friday, the rock musical Rent will hit Fay School’s stage for six performances.
Despite the setting, it’s not being put on by students. It’s a production of A Common Thread Theatre Company out of Framingham.
The groundbreaking rock musical by Jonathan Larson that premiered in 1996, loosely based on Puccini’s opera La Bohème, follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists, musicians, and filmmakers struggling to survive and create in New York City’s East Village under the shadow of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
The theater company is marketing it as part of their theme: “Bold Stories, Fierce Voices”.

The live performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm on June 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th. Sunday Matinees are 3:00 pm on June 14th and 21st.
The June 20th show will be a special production featuring ASL Interpretation provided by student/recent ITP graduate interpreters.
