The Southborough Library is hosting a public “Craft Swap” in two weeks. But you don’t actually to make an actual swap to participate.
Whether you’re a professional crafter/artisan or have odds and ends of crafts from your kids accumulated over the years — it’s a great way to clear out your cabinets of things you don’t need but other crafters may.
And if you’re in need of more craft supplies, there’s nothing cheaper than free!
If you’re planning on shopping for free materials, you’ll want to save the date for Saturday, September 19th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm:
Bring your new or gently used craft supplies to donate and/or take home any supplies that interest you. All are welcome. No need to donate to participate.
If you’re planning on donating items, you can drop them off in advance, starting Saturday, September 12th. (Those who can’t do it in advance can still bring items with them. But, donating in advance will allow library staff/volunteers to sort some of the items to make it easier for people to find things the day of the swap.)
You can leave them in the Judy Williams Reading Room on the main floor of the building. Just be sure to follow the guidelines for what is and isn’t accepted — both the types of items and the quantities.
The library specifies:
Please make sure you are only donating item in good condition, nothing broken or damaged. When in doubt, consider if you would give the item to a friend.
- Donation limit of 1 bag per person.
- Accepted — as long as in good condition:
- Yarn (unless moth damaged)
- Tools (needles, hooks, etc.).
- Ribbon, thread, washi tape
- Beads & buttons
- Markers, crayons, colored pencils
- Paper (construction, scrapbook & origami only)
- Nonhazardous paint
- Not Accepted — Please do not donate:
- broken tools
- unfinished projects
- house paint
- machinery
- office supplies (printer paper, binders, folders)
