Southborough police logs (5/25/13 – 5/29/13): Break-ins and copper theft

As previously reported, Southborough police responded to break-ins at a Burnett Road residence and a Turnpike Road business last week. Police are also investigating the theft on Wednesday of copper bands from two stone pillars at the entrance to the Vickery Hills neighborhood. Selectmen meet on Tuesday to consider changes to Transfer Station and Swap Shop

The last time the Board of Selectmen dealt with the Swap Shop it was huge news. The board ultimately backed off its plan at the time to shutter the leave-and-take area at the Transfer Station after unprecedented public outcry. This week they’ll take another look at the Swap Shop and consider not whether to close it altogether, but whether operations should be scaled back. Remembering Robert R. Foley, Jr.

Longtime resident Alice Foley died at the age of 87 earlier this month. I didn’t know Mrs. Foley personally, but her name will be familiar to anyone who has read the list of names etched into the stone of the All Wars Memorial on Southborough’s Town Common.
