Southborough police are well armed

The Metrowest Daily News surveyed local police departments to find out which have semi-automatic assault rifles as part of their arsenals. Turns out most do, including Southborough.
According to the article, Southborough police have five AR-15s, which can have an effective range of up to 600 yards and a bullet speed up to 3,200 feet per

Algonquin graduation wrap-up

Algonquin graduated 356 students yesterday in a ceremony in the school gymnasium. You can read about the ceremony, the speeches, and see some photos in the Metrowest Daily News. The paper also has a complete list of members of the class of 2009.

Searching for a search committee

The Board of Selectmen tonight will interview 15 people who have volunteered to be part of the committee that will search for a permanent police chief. Selectmen aim to appoint a committee of about seven members or so.
Some of the volunteers are residents, others are not. Some are regular citizens, and others like School Committee

Trottier band to perform at PawSox game

The Trottier band will perform the National Anthem at the Pawtucket Red Sox game at McCoy Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Rec Department has arranged for a bus to take Trottier kids down to see the game and cheer on their peers. Not sure if there’s still space on the bus, but you could call 508-229-4452
