Town Meeting voters on ZBA: Affirm Quorum at 4, leave questions to Attorney General; allow board to write rules; remove inter-agency appeals (Updated)

Last night, a large contingent of the voters at Town Meeting appeared to be there specifically to curb the powers of Southborough’s Zoning Board of Appeals. In the end, they supported 2 of 3 Articles towards that end. (One of them with the backing of the ZBA.) But, with each requiring a 2/3 approval, one failed to pass. And one of the Articles passed may not pass muster with the Attorney General’s office as written. Special Town Meeting Update: Article 1 organizer submitting amendment (and rebuttal to Town’s counsel), Planning supports Article 3

Last minute updates on tonight’s Special Town Meeting. The organizer for Article 1 asked me to share some news. And I got confirmation that the Planning Board did support Article 3 and write a support to that fact last night. Kallander Field: “Citizen” Article point of contention, Youth Soccer working with Fay but challenged by declining numbers, Answers to problems up the hill

This week, two selectmen let their displeasure be known about the Article to fund Kallander Field repairs. The focus was the mechanism for bringing $248,300 request to voters. Bypassing approval from the Board of Selectmen, the Recreation Commission Co-chair organized a Citizen’s Petition Article.
