Southborough resident Lynne McKay has been participating in the annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk for the past 14 years. This year for the first time, she and her team will hold some fundraising events to aid their cause. The first event will be held this weekend.

On Saturday, McKay and her team, called the Brunch Bunch, will host a Zumba class at 9:00 am at Pilgrim Church. A minimum donation of $10 is requested. Beginners are welcome to join the hour-long class which one of the team members described as “5,000 steps of Latin dance and laughter.” The class will be led by local Zumba instructor Kristen Cappello.

Later this month, McKay will partner with a Westborough business to host Fashionable Strides Against Breast Cancer. The event takes place on Thursday, October 20 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lyn Evans Potpourri Designs (30 Lyman Street, Westborough)

McKay says ending breast cancer starts with “one dollar at a time,” and so far this year she and her team have raised more than $6,000 toward the cause. They hope the two fundraisers this month will net them even more. If you’re unable to attend either of the events, but would still like to donate, you can do so on the Brunch Bunch’s Making Strides website.
