Postseason update: Algonquin boys soccer falls in division finals

The Algonquin boys soccer team weren’t able make it three in a row. Yesterday they vied for their third consecutive Central Division 1 championship, but were upset by Worcester North by a score of 3-1.

“Obviously you don’t want to lose,” Coash Ken Morin told TheDailyNorthborough.com. “I’ve got 11 seniors (who) won’t have the opportunity again to put on the Algonquin shirt again, and we take great pride in that. But it was a well-fought match.”

You can read all about the game here and here.

That leaves girls field hockey as the last Algonquin team still making their way through the postseason. The girls captured the division title last week, and face West Division champs Longmeadow today in the state semifinal round. The game starts at 7:00 pm at Foley Stadium.
