Southborough player selected for international hockey program

Congratulations go out to Southborough’s Meghan Ward after she was selected for an elite hockey team that will compete in Stockholm, Sweden this spring. More than 75 players from the Northeast and Quebec tried out for the team. Meghan earned one of only 17 spots. You can read more in this press release. Congrats, Meghan!

Saco, ME – The Selects Hockey organization has selected Meghan Ward from Southborough at their annual major peewee tryout held January 1st in Saco, Maine to join the international program with the East Coast Selects hockey team. More than 75 players from the Northeastern US and Quebec were invited to tryout for one of 17 positions on the team which will participate in the program’s international training development camp and the World Selects Invitational in Stockholm, Sweden this April. The team, which will be lead by former Canadian Olympian Manon Rheaume, will be submerged into foreign cultures and face top international competition in this once in a lifetime experience.

“Meghan was superb on Jan. 1st. She not only showed she has the skill to be a top hockey prospect but also demonstrated great leadership and passion on the ice,” commented Kathy Pippy, Director of Girls Hockey for the Selects Hockey program.

Selects Hockey is an elite hockey prospect development program owned by Legacy Global Sports. Since 2003, Selects Hockey has worked with top 12 to 16 year-old hockey players from North America and Europe to expose them to all avenues of hockey in an effort to facilitate opportunities at the prep school, NCAA, Junior and Professional levels. The program has helped over 100 male and female players receive NCAA scholarships over the past 8 years to schools such as Harvard, Boston University, Boston College, Brown, Clarkson University, University of Michigan and many more.
