UPDATE: Due to weather, this performance has been cancelled. The Steeple Coffeehouse will try to lure the performers to town this spring.

This Saturday, December 14, Steeple Coffeehouse will host The Kennedys’ final performance of their Classic Coffehouse Tour.

From the Beats to the hipsters, and from the trads to the anti-folk, the coffeehouse has always been the ideal environment for cool music that flies under the radar. Somehow acoustic music is enhanced when your hands are wrapped around a cup of hot coffee. The social aspect of conversation and storytelling, and the camaraderie of an all-volunteer staff, lend a vibe that big concert halls can never replicate. For the Fall of 2013, Pete and Maura Kennedy celebrate this tradition with a tour or some of the classic coffeehouses, both old and new, in the Northeast. This is the kind of situation where their “all request” format really shines, so come prepared to hear your Kennedys favorites, and maybe some stories from the endless road…

The performance in Pilgrim Church’s Fellowship Hall is at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance ($12 for students/seniors) or $18 at the door ($15 for students/seniors). Advance purchase is available on the Steeple Coffeehouse website (steeplecoffeehouse.org).

Proceeds from the refreshment sales are donated to local and regional charity. As is their tradition, organizers are also requesting people to bring donations for the Southborough Food Pantry.

The Kennedys are always my favorite act of the year at Steeple Coffeehouse. Great tunes, great vibe, and Pete Kennedy is a world-renowned guitar virtuoso. This year I can’t make it due to a previous engagement, but this is a highly recommended show!

Unfortunately due to the storm the show has been cancelled. We are hoping to reschedule with the Kennedy’s and have them back in the spring.
