Help ‘Stamp out Hunger’ on Saturday, May 10

Did you, like me, get a grocery bag in your mailbox and think, huh? The United Parishes of Southborough Food Pantry just filled me in on the reason and asked me to share it.

This Saturday, Southborough postal carriers are once again taking part in the nation’s largest single-day food drive.

Items collected in Southborough as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ 22nd Annual Stamp Out Hunger event will go directly to the Southborough Food Pantry.

You can help by leaving a bag containing non-perishable foods next to your mailbox prior to your normal mail delivery on Saturday, May 10.

Local letter carriers will collect the donations as they deliver the mail and take them to the food pantry at Pilgrim Church.

Your donations will help the residents of Southborough and members of its churches who are struggling to put food on their tables every day.

Here’s a list of items the Southborough Food Pantry currently needs. Please be sure to check expiration dates. The food pantry cannot take expired items.

  • canned pineapple
  • pears
  • peaches
  • condiments
  • hash
  • canned chicken
  • pasta sauce
  • dish detergent
  • laundry detergent
