  • NEF’s Applefest Gala (7:30 – 11:30 pm) @ Juniper Hills Golf Course, Northborough: “Cocktails and Dancing Under the Stars” fundraiser for Northborough Education Foundation. (NEF’s grants support Northborough’s public schools, including Algonquin Regional High School.) For details, see related post.

  • Hike with Goats (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: All ages/family – 60 minute window – pick a time slot. Take a leisurely hike through Chestnut Hill Farm’s beautiful grounds and trails, accompanied by one or more of our friendly goats! Pre-registration (and fee) required.   • Applefest Street Fair (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) @ Blake Street, Northborough: Crafts, Vendors, Local Businesses and Community Groups (including groups from Algonquin and Northborough-Southborough youth sports teams), Food and Music. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Northborough. For details, see related post.
  • Open Lab for Ideas (10:30 – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, Teen Room: Biweekly program for 12-18 yr olds to explore how they can use Library equipment to take creative project ideas and make them a reality.
  • Read to a Dog (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library: Program preferably for kids ages 5 and up with some reading ability. Each month, children can sign up to read a short book to a certified therapy dog. Register at the Children’s Room desk or by contacting kivers@southboroughma.com or 508-485-5031.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library: New biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Applefest BBQ, Fireworks, Concert and Family Fun (5:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Algonquin, 79 Bartlett Street, Northborough: ($10 parking per car). The festival with music, food, and free kids activities includes demos held by the Algonquin Robotics Team. For details, see related post.

  • Applefest Parade (2:00 pm)  @ Lincoln Street, down Main Street to School Street: Features community organizations including ones linked to Southborough through shared schools and sports. For details, see related post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Join Miss Kim for stories and craft based on a weekly theme. Ages 2-5 years and their parents or caregivers. No registration required. (Mondays & Tuesdays through most of the school year.)
  • Bereavement Group (1:00 – 2: 00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: The Bereavement Group is a monthly support group is for ages 50 and older. To sign up to join the group, please call Leslie Chamberlin, R.N. at 508-229-4453.
  • Creativity Club (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough, Library Teen Room: Young adults ages 12 to 18 are invited to drop-in to work on creative projects. Craft materials will be available and writing prompts and projects provided. No pre-registration required.

  • NSPAC General Meeting (9:00 – 9:30 am) @ Northborough Library, 34 Main St, Northborough: This month’s meeting of the Northborough Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council will feature NSBORO Student Support Services department. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions about SPED programming in our district. For details and to register, click here.
  • Book Bugs: Farm Fun for Little Ones (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Pre-registration (and fee) required. For ages 2 to 5 years old, adult supervision required (siblings under 2 yrs old can attend for free). Bring your little bug to the farm for an interactive children’s story time. We’ll read a farm story, make a craft, and explore the farm! Each day will have a different theme. (Biweekly program.) For details, see related post.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Join Miss Kim for stories and craft based on a weekly theme. Ages 2-5 years old and their parents or caregivers. No registration required. (Mondays & Tuesdays through most of the school year.)
  • Senior Songsters (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ where: The Senior Center’s singing group is resuming its weekly rehearsals this week. This friendly group is open to any senior who enjoys singing regardless of ability. (Those who prefer to listen can sit in.) For details, see related post.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Tuesday Tech Time (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Each week, library staff and teen volunteers will make every effort to assist patrons with technology questions. Bring questions about ebooks and electronic resources. This is a drop in event; no registrations necessary. 
  • Teen Book Club (5:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: This monthly book club run by the Southborough Library for high schoolers requires pre-registration. For details, see related post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Lawn: Weekly program featuring traditional and popular children’s songs suitable for newborns through preschool age. Drop-In, no registration necessary. Children must be accompanied by parent/caregiver. (The outdoor event will be cancelled if it rains.)
  • “Leaping Lizards” senior lunch program (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A Joys of Nature presentation about lizards will be preceded by lunch. Pre-registration is required (and it may be full). The suggested donation for the lunch is $6. For details, see the Senior Center’s newsletter, p. 9.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular semi-monthly meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)

  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: This weekly story time is for children age 0-2 years and their parents or caregivers. Each session will include puppets, stories, and music. No registration required.
  • K-6 Early Release Day: Half-day of school for students of Finn, Woodward and Neary.
  • Reading Buddies (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: This is the first session of the new weekly meetup. Beginner readers looking for a supportive listener, and teens interested in helping young patrons gain confidence in the reading skills, are invited to register to be paired up through the library’s weekly program.   • ARHS Senior Parent College Night (6:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional’s auditorium: Guidance Department presentation for parents of seniors to walk them through the college application process and school resources.
  • Trottier Curriculum Night (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School: Parents of the 6th – 8th graders are encouraged to follow their kids’ schedules to learn about their classes.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Take action, build international understanding, and make new friends around the world. Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Find out how serious leadership can be seriously fun.

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Outside Preschool Yoga (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library lawn: A free Library program for children age 3-6 with parents (siblings welcome). A Certified Kids’ Yoga Instructor will lead children through a series of yoga postures, using games, music, and literacy activities. Yoga mats will be provided. Pre-registration is required.   • Southborough Safe Spaces – Gay Games Night @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St: Youth event for the group that provides a safe, welcoming environment for LBGTQ+ youth of all faiths. For details, see website.

  • No School: There is no public school in Southborough and Northborough on the the first full day of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashana.

Help care for farm animals, learn about farm-fresh food, hike the trails, create natural crafts, and explore the farm from the eyes of its most important team member: the farmer!
