Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend. I’m also including a few events from Northborough’s Applefest that have ties to our town through the high school and/or youth/sports groups.

  • Southborough Safe Spaces Movie Night Pajama Party (7:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Church, 15 Common St: Event for grades 6-12 hosted by Southborough Safe Spaces for LBGTQ+ youth of all faiths and their allies. For details, click here.

  • Goat Hangout and Ramble (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: (Formerly called “Hike with Goats”.) Your reservation gets you and your group of family or friends an hour-long experience with a friendly goat on its own harness and leash. For details, click here.
  • Applefest Street Fair (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Blake Street, Northborough: Crafts, Vendors, Local Businesses and Community Groups (including groups from Algonquin and Northborough-Southborough youth sports teams), Food and Music.   • A Perky Pairing (1:00 – 2:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: A free workshop on Coffee and Fine Chocolates. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Applefest BBQ, Fireworks, Concert and Family Fun (5:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Algonquin, 79 Bartlett Street, Northborough: ($20 parking per car).   • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: The semi-weekly series returns for the school year. Kids ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Bi-monthly social knitting group. Beginners are welcome and supplies will be provided, though you can also bring your own and “any creation you are working on”. For planning purposes, the Senior Center is asking potential attendees to RSVP. For details, see related post.

  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: The semi-weekly series returns for the school year. Kids ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Books with Bunnies (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: A new weekly interactive story time for preschoolers (with a parent/caregiver) in the bunny garden with the farm’s Flemish Giant Rabbits hopping about. Pre-registration (and fee) required. For details, see related post.
  • Reading Roundtable (11:30 am – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: A new monthly Book Club for adult book lovers to delve into literary analysis. For details, see related post.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Dave McGillivray Talk  (7:00 – 8:30 pm) @ Trottier Middle School, 49 Parkerville Road: A free speaker event with the Boston Marathon Race Director. RSVP is encouraged, but walk-ins allowed. For more details, see dedicated post.

  • Manga & Anime Club (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Monthly discussion club for fans ages 12+. For details, see related post.
  • ARHS Open House for Parents (6:00 – 8:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: Hear from teachers about what students will be studying in their classes this year/semester. (Parents should look for emailed instructions for following the Student Schedule.)

We bank online, purchase products and services online, and communicate with friends and family online.   • Preschool Farm Explorers (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Weekly program returns for ages 2 years 9 months to 5 years old, Adult supervision required. Pre-registration (and fee) required. (free for siblings under 1.) Little farm explorers will become immersed in what life is like at Chestnut Hill. Each session has a different theme. For details, see related post.
  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: The weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers returns for the school year. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Drop-in Lego Building (3:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Kids are invited to build with Legos and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided. Parents or caregivers must stay with children.

  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library: Biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

  • Pilgrim’s Kid’s Church kickoff (10:00 am) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St: To kickoff their weekly youth religious program, the church is hosting a whole group youth and family event for all ages with free fun including a bouncy house, face painting, food and games. All are welcome. For details, click here.
  • Art on the Trails Closing Ceremony  (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Beals Preserve: The closing ceremony for this year’s outdoor art exhibit will feature the reading of poems inspired by the art installations. For more details, see dedicated post.
