Last year, I shared news about a volunteer run Summer Robotics Camp organized by three young Southborough brothers. This spring, they are recruiting participants for this summer’s camp.
Four the fourth straight year, the camp is being offered to children entering grades 2–9 and hosted Algonquin Regional High School.
NERA promotes:
Join the New England Robotics Association (NERA) for a hands-on summer experience where students design, build, and program robots, take part in fun team challenges and engineering projects, and develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Organizers tout that campers will develop skills “in a supportive environment led by experienced student instructors and supervised by adult volunteers.”
Families can sign kids/teens up for 1, 2, or 3 weeks of camp this summer. Plus, half-day and daily options are also available. (You would need to reach out to them for those details.)
The camp runs on weekdays from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. (Extended morning and afternoon hours are available starting at 8:00 am and ending at 5:30 pm.) Field trips are planned for each Friday. Week 1 starts on July 27th and Week 3 ends August 14th.
The first two weeks each cost $399, and the fourth week $499. But there is a $30 Early bird discount offered until April 30th. There is also a referral bonus. For an extra fee, campers can buy lunch.
Organizers write that the tuition is only collected to support camp operations. If there is any surplus, it will be used to “benefit a local school or other public facility”.
To sign kids up, go to the registration page here.
Last year, over 30 area children participated in the camp. Below are some of the photo highlights organizers shared from 2025:
