Southborough Recreation is again embracing National Parks & Recreation Month by putting on a series of free community events throughout July.

Most of these are drop-in activities open to the public — no registration required.

July Rec eventsThe event was kicked off last week with the Family Fun Run. Still upcoming events include ones that I already posted about. So, I’ll start the list with ones that I haven’t covered yet.

Golfing Discount

Tuesdays in July (for tee times before 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Golf Club

Rec again worked with the municipal golf course to offer a weekly discount.

The half-off, $12 rate is only for Southborough residents (and you must show valid ID). Note: The fee does not cover carts. To book a tee time click here or visit the golf shop.

Monday Morning Walking & Running

Mondays, all month, 7:00 am start-time @ Trottier Middle School outdoor track (49 Parkerville Road).

Popsicles & Chalk Art at the Playground

Wednesday, July 15th, 12:30 pm @ Fayville Park (on Central Street)

Rec will give out free popsicles to families who turn up to play at the playground. Plus, enjoy coloring on the blacktop with sidewalk chalk.

Summer Block Parties

Wednesdays, July 9th & 23rd. 600 pm @ Finn School

Two parties with music, dancing, games, and other family friendly entertainment are planned, plus a special visitor from the Red Sox. For more details on the fun, see related post.

(Note: Rec’s original flyer promoted the second party as taking place at Woodward. That was an error.)

Kids Jam Story Times

Fridays, 11:00 – 11:30 am @ the Southborough Library lawn (25 Main Street)

(These are just the regular Friday morning sessions, Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library, that are running all summer long.) Babies and toddlers with parents/caregivers can join Miss Amy for songs and stories accompanied by a mountain dulcimer.

Summer Concert Series

Two Thursday nights in July, 6:00 pm @ Outdoor stage, Neary School, 53 Parkerville Road

This year’s band lineup is:

    • July 16 — Disco Lemonade
    • July 30 — Carolyn Rae & The Rumors

Each concert will feature a food truck selling dinner. And there’s free ice cream courtesy of the Friends of Southborough Recreation. For more details on the fun, see related post.
