Selectmen approve new cemetery policies, increase notification times and fees
A change in the union contract for DPW workers means more notice will be required to hold a Monday burial at Southborough’s Rural Cemetery. Neary students sign petition to save the Swap Shop
The proposed closure of the Swap Shop has been a rallying point for many in town, including some of our youngest residents. Yesterday a group of Neary fifth-graders submitted a petition with more than 300 signatures in support of keeping the Swap Shop open. Breaking news: Swap Shop closure has been delayed until January 7
The Swap Shop has received a stay of execution. Selectman Bill Boland announced moments ago that he has ordered the shop to remain open until January 7, 2012. Few residents show up to National Grid hearing
Southborough residents had plenty of ire for National Grid during the last two power outages, but that didn’t translate into attendance at a public hearing on the utility last night at Trottier. Swap Shop scheduled to close on Thursday. Will it?
Unless the Board of Selectmen steps in to intervene, Southborough’s beloved Swap Shop is scheduled to close for good on Thursday. There aren’t many topics that wholly unite the minds and opinions of Southborough residents, but the Swap Shop appears to be one of them. Yesterday morning a petition to save the Swap Shop was submitted to the Town Clerk’s office. The petition bore the names of more than 700 Southborough residents. Selectman encourages ‘rational discussion’ over Swap Shop
Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Bill Boland said this morning that he would be “looking into” feedback received from residents over the decision last week to permanently close the Swap Shop at the Transfer Station. MWDN: Southborough eliminates town engineer position
Southborough Town Engineer John Woodsmall recently accepted a position as the public works director in Holden (congrats, John!). His last day on the job was Wednesday. The Board of Selectmen this week decided to replace Woodsmall not with another town engineer, but with a staff engineer. It’s a move that is expected to save the town about $20K per year.
