On Wednesday night, the Department of Public Works held a meeting to explain the Main Street reconstruction project plans.
The room was packed with residents, many with questions and comments. Most of the commenters wanted to convey their displeasure with the plan. Some wanted to know how to improve it, while others wanted to stop it all together. Recent conversations have made me realize that some residents don’t understand the power a single voter has at town meeting. Last year, each person who showed up represented 38 registered voters. In the fall, the Recreation Commission announced their decision to phase out use of the 9-11 Memorial Field by the end of this year. The announcement followed a failed effort to raise money to fund re-turfing the field.
