Swan on the Wachusett Aqueduct

I captured these pictures earlier in the month on the section of the aqueduct between Parkerville and Deerfoot Roads. For a time there were two swans swimming there each morning, then just the one, and now I don’t see either when I go by.
Anyone caught a glimpse of them elsewhere in town?

Southborough office hours for Senator Kerry and Rep. Dykema

No commuter rail parking at Fitzgerald’s – for now

The plan by the owner of Fitzgerald’s General Store to offer cheaper commuter rail parking is dead, at least for now.

Cordaville Hall to get a new roof, lose some dormers

The Board of Selectmen last week approved a $32K contract to replace the roof at Cordaville Hall (the Senior Center). As part of the work, the four dormers on the back of the building will be removed. The ones on the front will remain.

The movie in Southborough is officially over, and life around town will soon return to normal.
The cast and crew finished up filming late last night. I’ve haven’t been down to see the set today, but word is much of the equipment, including light trucks and the trailers at Woodward, have already made their way out

Reminder: Sign up for Webber golf tourney by June 1

Monday, June 1 is the last day to sign up for the Billy Webber Memorial Golf Tournament. The event honors Southborough’s Police Chief William Webber who passed away from pancreatic cancer last November. All proceeds go to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Southborough unemployment rate holds steady

Yesterday the state released unemployment numbers for April, and Southborough is holding relatively steady. Our unemployment rate was 5.1% in April, compared to 5.2% in March.
Southborough’s unemployment rate is still significantly lower than the state average of 7.8% for April 2009.
