  • Southborough Safe Spaces Trivia Night (7:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Church, 15 Common St: For grades 6-12 LBGTQ+ youth of all faiths and their allies. Dinner will be served and donations appreciated. (For more information on the group see their website and Facebook page.)

  • Golf Fore ALS @ Southborough Golf Club: Half of all greens fees during the holiday weekend will be donated to ALS research and care in memory of Brian Shifrin and John Wilson. Click here to book a tee time. Stay tuned for dedicated post with more details.
  • Spooky Hunters of the Night (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Pre-registration (and fee) required. On this spooky moonlit evening, we will search for nocturnal hunters. Search for bat silhouettes against a glowing orange harvest moon and learn about owl calls in hopes that you’ll hear a feathered hunter on your hike. For details, see related post.

  • History Hike on New Peninisula Trail (10:00 am) @ Fayville Park, Central Street: Join the Trails Committee and Mass DCR for a guided history hike to celebrate the recently opened section of the Boroughs Loop/Aqueduct Trail (a.k.a Peninsula Trail).   • Pumpkin Carving (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ putside of Pilgrim Church, 15 Common St: The church is inviting the community to bring their pumpkins and come carve with them before you drop them off for the nearby Pumpkin Stroll. Knives will be available for use.
  • Pumpkin Stroll (drop-off 4:00 – 6:00 pm, stroll 6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Common Street: The community is invited to contribute to and/or view the big display of jack-o-lanterns lined up on the stone wall around the Old Burial Ground. The annual event is hosted by Southborough Rotary, whose members will be collecting specific items for the Food Pantry. For details, see dedicated post.

  • State holiday (for Columbus Day / Indigenous People’s Day): No public school. Town offices, Senior Center, and Library are closed.

  • Southborough Safe Spaces Anniversary party/open house (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Church, 15 Common St:  The group supporting LGBTQ+ youth and allies is celebrating it’s anniversary with a wine and cheese reception for the community. Join them for a talk about the beginning & growth of the group, what they do and why and to watch their video, ‘Voices Carry; Procuring Hope for LGBTQ Youth’.   • Book Bugs: Farm Fun for Little Ones (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Pre-registration (and fee) required. For ages 2 to 5 years old, adult supervision required (siblings under 2 yrs old can attend for free). Bring your little bug to the farm for an interactive children’s story time. We’ll read a farm story, make a craft, and explore the farm! Each day will have a different theme. (Biweekly program.) For details, see related post.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Join Miss Kim for stories and craft based on a weekly theme. Ages 2-5 years old and their parents or caregivers. No registration required. (Mondays & Tuesdays through most of the school year.)
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Tuesday Tech Time (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Each week, library staff and teen volunteers will make every effort to assist patrons with technology questions. Bring questions about ebooks and electronic resources. This is a drop in event; no registrations necessary. 
  • Select Board Office Hours (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Town House Hearing Room, 17 Common St: Residents are invited to drop in to informally speak with two Board members about any questions, concerns or interests. This session will be hosted by members Lisa Braccio and Andrew Dennington
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Woodward Principal Coffee (9:15 – 10:00 am) @ Woodward School: Presentation by Mathematics Coordinator Kathy Lizotte.
  • Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Lawn: Weekly program featuring traditional and popular children’s songs suitable for newborns through preschool age. Drop-In, no registration necessary. Children must be accompanied by parent/caregiver. (The outdoor event will be cancelled if it rains.)
  • Elder Law Advice (10:00 – 10:45 am) @ phone or zoom: Southborough seniors can sign up for a free 15 minute session of individualized legal advice from an Elder Law attorney. For details, see the Senior Center’s newsletter, p. 10.
  • Senior Matinee (12:30 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Pre-registration is required (and it may be full). Screening the pg Halloween comedy Hocus Pocus. An optional lunch is at noon preceding the movie. For details, see the Senior Center’s newsletter, p.8
  • Southborough Interact Rotary Club (7:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Take action, build international understanding, and make new friends around the world. Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Find out how serious leadership can be seriously fun.

  • NSPAC Coffee and Connect (10:00am – 12:00 pm) @ NY Bagel Factory, 20 Worcester Road (Rt 9 eastbound): Northborough/Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council meeting. It’s a chance for parents/guardians to connect with other members of the community facing similar challenges. For details, see related post.
  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: This weekly story time is for children age 0-2 years and their parents or caregivers. Each session will include puppets, stories, and music. No registration required.
  • Reading Buddies (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Beginner readers looking for a supportive listener, and teens interested in helping young patrons gain confidence in the reading skills, are invitedt o register to be paired up through the library’s weekly program.   • Sachem Haunted Coffeehouse (7:00 – 10:00 pm) @ ARHS Blackbox Theatre: Admission is $6 (or $5 for seniors or if you wear a costume). A night of music, costumes, and food with proceeds going towards the printing and publication of Algonquin’s literary & art magazine.
  • Special Town Meeting (7:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium, 49 Parkerville Road: Special fall meeting convened for Southborough voters to act as the Town legislative branch on bylaws and fiscal matters. For details, see dedicated posts.

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Outside Preschool Yoga (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library lawn: A free Library program for children age 3-6 with parents (siblings welcome). A Certified Kids’ Yoga Instructor will lead children through a series of yoga postures, using games, music, and literacy activities. Yoga mats will be provided. Pre-registration is required. (Weekly sessions through mid-October.)
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.

  • Open Lab for Ideas (10:30 – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, Teen Room: Biweekly program for 12-18 yr olds to explore how they can use Library equipment to take creative project ideas and make them a reality.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library: Biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

  • Hike with Goats (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: All ages/family – 60 minute window – pick a time slot. Take a leisurely hike through Chestnut Hill Farm’s beautiful grounds and trails, accompanied by one or more of our friendly goats! Pre-registration (and fee) required. (Weekly on Saturdays and Sundays.) For details, see related post.
  • History Walk at Beals Preserve (10:00 am) @ Beals Preserve:Join the Southborough Open Land Foundation (SOLF) for a guided walk and talk about the history of the property. Meet at the kiosk on the south side of the aqueduct. (Parking is available by the Route 30 entrance, see map here.) To register, email info@solf.org.
  • NSPAC Playground Meetup for families (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Assabet Park, 20 Gale St, Northborough: Postponed from September due to weather. Meet and chat with fellow parents of students with disabilities while your child enjoys meeting friends and some end of summer fun. NSPAC will provide snacks and drinks.
