  • American Legion Baseball home game (5:30 pm) @ Memorial Field, Northborough: The local team of high school and freshman year of college baseball players (including Southborough residents) is scheduled to play Milford. For details, see related post.

  • American Legion Baseball home game (2:00 pm) @ Memorial Field, Northborough: The local team of high school and freshman year of college baseball players (including Southborough residents) is scheduled to play East Side. For details, see related post.
  • Peek in the Pond (5:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Join a local expert as you visit a pond on the farm to discover all the life to be found in this small but important body of water. You’ll search with buckets and nets to find things like dragonfly nymphs, tadpoles, salamander nymphs, and more.. Pre-registration (and fee) required. For details, click here.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Knitting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Bi-monthly social knitting group. Beginners are welcome and supplies will be provided, though you can also bring your own and “any creation you are working on”. For planning purposes, the Senior Center is asking potential attendees to RSVP. For details, see related post.
  • Drop-in Chess (12:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Bring a friend, or make a new one, as attendees play the competitive classic game: Chess. Weekly program over the summer (except for July 24th.)

  • $10 Rounds of Golf (6:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Golf Club: The club** is offering the discounted Greens Fees on Tuesdays in July as part of National Parks & Recreation month. (Carts and any additional services are extra.) Book tee times up to one week in advance online (here) or by calling 508-460-0946.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • “Tromp Through the Swamp” (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library (on the lawn unless weather requires moving indoors): Musician Tom Sieling will return to the Southborough Library to perform “a top 10 lineup of the world’s most fun, participatory kids’ songs”. All ages welcome and no registration required. (Sponsored by The Friends of the Southborough Library and Fay School.) For details, see related post.
  • Teen Design Lab (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Weekly drop-in for teens to explore the Idea Lab equipment. No Registration required.(Made possible by support from The Friends of the Southborough Library.) For details, see related post.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Summer Flower Arranging for Seniors (9:30 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Registration is required (and the program may be full). The Southborough Gardeners are sponsoring and leading this free flower arranging workshop. For details, see related post.
  • Elder Law Advice (10:00 – 10:45 am) @ phone: Southborough seniors can sign up for a free 15 minute session of individualized legal advice from an Elder Law attorney. For details, see the Senior Center’s newsletter, p. 9.
  • Outdoor Story Time (4:00 – 4:45 pm) @ Southborough Library lawn: Join Miss Kim for stories and fun! Please bring a blanket or chair. This event is for all ages and no registration is required. (In case of inclement weather, story time will be held in the Children’s Room.)
  • Eco-Friends (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Weekly discussion group for kids ages 12+ who care about our environment and are looking for ways to make a difference! For details, see related post.

  • Southborough Summer Concert Series (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Neary’s Outdoor Stage, 53 Parkerville Road: Southborough Recreation’s free weekly family friendly outdoor concert series. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Bring your dinner or buy one there from a food truck. This week’s featured act is Stomp ‘N Holler. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Drop-In Crafts (10:30 am – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room and Eaton Room: Stop by to make a variety of free crafts! All craft projects can be taken home. All ages welcome and no registration required. 
  • Science Adventure Book Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Registration is required to join the Southborough Library’s chapter of the Museum of Science weekly summer book club for 4th – 8th graders. For details, see related post.
  • Sit & Knit (7:00 -8:30pm) @ Southborough Library: Biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

  • Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Lawn: Kids are invited to dance and sing along to a variety of traditional and popular children’s songs Best for newborns through preschool age. No registration necessary. This event will be held on the library lawn. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library.
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Summer Craft Club (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Kids ages 12+ are invited to make craft projects using the Library’s materials, tools, and resources. (Made possible by support from The Friends of the Southborough Library.) For details, see related post.

  • Hike with Goats (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Your reservation gets you and your group of family or friends an hour-long experience with a friendly goat on its own harness and leash. You will first learn how to walk with the goat, and then you’ll be accompanied by a farm staff member as you and your new goat friend make your way around the farm and its trails.   • Finding Fungi Guided Mushroom Hike (time) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Learn several methods for beginners to identify fungi and locate mushrooms. Pre-registration (and fee) required. For details, see related post.

**Updated (7/10/23 7:47 am): A reader alerted me that the discounted Southborough Golf Club fees are being sponsored by the management company (not the Town) in honor of Parks & Rec month.

***Updated (7/12/23 11:11 am): The American Legion team was originally scheduled to play Sturbridge, but that team forfeited. Instead, they will be playing a non-league team this evening as they await the playoff schedule.
