Breaking news: Town employees cleared of all wrongdoing
UnoGate is officially over. At an executive session on Wednesday night that lasted more than four hours, selectmen discussed the investigation of comments made by town department heads at an afterwork gathering at Pizzeria Uno last fall. A statement issued by the Board of Selectmen after the executive session said the investigation concluded there was no wrongdoing on the part of the town employees, and no further disciplinary action would be taken. Testy moments at last night’s candidate forum
The Selectman campaign between incumbent Sal Giorlandino and challenger John Rooney has seemed largely civil up until this point, but last night the gloves came off. At a Meet the Candidates Forum hosted at the Southborough Library, each questioned the other’s leadership skills, and Giorlandino accused Rooney of orchestrating a negative Internet campaign against him. MWDN: Town hasn’t handed over legal bills
The Metrowest Daily News reported this morning that they have yet to receive copies of the legal bills they requested related to the Southborough Eight investigation. By law the town had until the end of last week to comply with MWDN’s Freedom of Information Act request, or provide a reason why they couldn’t. Town meeting attendance relatively high this year
The budget challenges the town faced this year translated into a higher than attendance at the annual town meeting. On the first night of town meeting, 377 residents filled the seats at Trottier.
