Select Board to form committee to explore use of 21 Highland Street

In response to public outcry, the Select Board agreed to allow volunteers to explore uses and financial feasibility of the historic "asset"

For over an hour last week, the Select Board discussed 21 Highland Street and listened to concerns of residents who believe that the South Union Building and property are worth retaining. Although they didn’t vote, the board agreed to form a committee for stakeholders to explore options for its use along with financial viability. Petition to “Stop Sale” of South Union

Residents want a working group that includes neighbors to explore uses of 21 Highland Street before any decisions are made.

Yesterday afternoon, I finally found the time to post a recap of the Select Board’s discussion on September 5th about the future of 21 Highland Street. Unbeknownst to me, earlier that morning, 130 residents submitted a petition to the the Select Board seeking to stop the sale of the property. Today, a member of the Select Board publicly responded via Letter to the Editor. Select Board’s “Infrastructure” Goals

Sidewalk network plans, a "Town Center historic project", and determining what to do with the South Union building are among the board's FY24 goals
