Affordable Housing Trust seeking to develop Atwood parcel (Updated-Again)

The Trust made an offer to to reduce the Town's contamination cleanup costs of the old Water Tower site in exchange for ownership to develop a project. The offer may be added to the Fall Town Meeting Warrant.

At last night’s Select Board Meeting, the board heard the broad outlines of an offer made by the Town’s Affordable Housing Trust to purchase a Town-owned parcel on Atwood Street. The Trust is seeking to enter an agreement to acquire the property after the Town has successfully cleaned up lead discovered on the site. Suicide Prevention Awareness Month reminder

Sign up for free awareness-raising lawn signs and/or programs throughout September to help community members "support loved ones and strengthen resilience".

For those who missed (or forgot about) my sharing Southborough Youth and Family Services’ efforts for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September. . .

Town won’t request MSBA funding extension for Neary Project

Last night, the Southborough Select Board unanimously voted against requesting an extension on the state grant for the Neary Building Project.

That kills any remaining hope that project supporters had for building a new 4-grade school at Neary to open for the school year 2028-2029. But this doesn’t mean the end of the Towns’ efforts to pursue a school building project of some kind. Select Board to discuss extending MSBA funding to keep Neary project possibility alive (Updated)

Members may discuss analyzed results from the school building survey issued this summer.

Tomorrow night, the Select Board will vote on whether to request an extension for getting voters’ approval to fund the Neary School Building project. The last time the question came up, the board was split. But the majority had been in favor of keeping the option alive, while the Town continues to explore how to handle school building issues. Globe advocates repealing law that stops NSBORO from creating “in-house bus service”

The Boston Globe editorial spotlights Northborough-Southborough Public Schools' transportation cost issues

This week, an editorial by the Boston Globe Editorial Board supported a measure in the Municipal Empowerment Bill filed by Governor Maura Healey.

Update on School Building plans

This week, the PreK-8 School Building Committee discussed its work pulling together information on potential school building projects. Meanwhile, the Southborough School Committee has been discussing asking Town Meeting voters this fall to spend about $4M to replace Neary School’s roof. BOH bans convenience store sales of nicotine pouches

After learning about flavored products that appear to flout state laws, the Town board restricted sales to non-existent adult tobacco stores.

Yesterday, the Board of Health voted to update its tobacco regulations. The decision was prompted by recently learning that at least one convenience store in town was purportedly selling “pouch” tobacco/nicotine in flavors that would appeal to kids.
